Two-Face fancy dress costume

|
Way back in 1999 my employers decided that the works Christmas party would have a theme.
The theme chosen was Heroes & Villains. Fellow work mates came up with ideas for their costumes,
everything from Lara Croft to Adolf Hitler.
Being the company's resident comic collector, I was expected to do something special.
But a few weeks later and I was still without an idea or concept. |

Lucky for me, I had not thrown-out my suites from the 1980's.
One was black with bright blue dots, the other was pale grey
(God knows how anyone thought these were nice!).
Grabbing two old shirts, one white and one black with gold stitch work,
(hey, blame the 80's), I had the start of a costume.
Add to this, two awful ties (80's, remember!) and a large pair of scissors and I was ready.
A few snips later, I had the raw materials and a lot of stitching to do! |

All the stitching was done by hand on the shirts, trousers and jackets (took two weeks).
A kind friend (Sharon Smith) did the ties with her sewing machine.
Another friend Kerry Earl (owner of The American Comic Shop) offered and did the partial face mask.
The mask is made from latex, plastic and hair (for the eyebrow).
Face paint, spirit gum and white hair-spray finished the main outfit.
|

Two plastic guns (each a different colour) and a cardboard two-headed coin (weighted by a real coin) finished the outfit.
Was the effort worth it?
Seeing the shock on the face of the taxi driver picking us up (should have warned him!).
Winning the prize for the best costume.
Getting into the spirit of Christmas with the other party goers
I'd have to say... YES
